Journey to the stage

From a young age it was obvious Danielle was destined to be on the Stage. As a child she was enthralled by live music and musicals, she attended Emjay School of Dance and by the time she was 13 had performed in the All England Dance Finals at the renowned Sadlers Wells Theatre in London.

However, her love was for music so she left Emjay to pursue her dream, and started having singing lessons. At 15 she made serveral appearances as guest lead vocalist for local band Sub-Culture which fuelled her passion further.

By the time she was 18 she had co-written and recorded several tracks with local DJ Adam Baxter, which led her to Producer Kevin Wood.

Kevin had previously been working as a sound engineer in London with the likes of Kylie and Danni Minogue, The Honeys, Lemar, The Streets, So Solid crew and more.

Kevin and Danielle began writing together and produced 'Over You', 'Waiting on Sunshine' and 'It don't matter'. Kevin introduced Danielle to Singer/Songwriter Olu Rowe (previously signed to Virgin Records) who Danielle worked with on several projects. It was Olu who encouraged and helped Danielle onto the live scene.

It was obvious to Danielle that she needed to establish a firm identity at a time when everyone else was performing Britney covers and it was still uncommon for blue eyed white girls to be singing Black Music.

Coming from a family of music lovers Danielle grew up listening to Soul and Motown Her father, a passionate music fan taught her the history of Motown and other legendary soul labels like Atlantic and Philadelphia Records.

Her passion lay in the Soul Classics and the glamour of the era appealed to Danielle's extrovert personality. For her it's always been about big hair, high heels and Glitz.
